Grind & Seal

A Grind & Seal is a cost-effective solution to polished concrete

A Spot On Grind and Seal is a cheaper alternative to polished concrete with the same aesthetic looks as a polished concrete floor.

This floor is cheaper due to it being less labour intensive and having a quicker completion time. A grind and seal is essentially that, we grind the floor to the desired exposure as with polished concrete and the surface is then sealed instead of mechanically polished with a sealer of the client’s choice. Sealers are available in epoxy, water-based acrylics, solvent based polyurethanes and various other forms. The sealers come clear or coloured, in a variety of gloss levels.

A Grind and Seal is an ideal alternative for garages, shops or leased properties. The advantages of a Grind and Seal is the price point and the ability to add non-slip additives to areas such as wet areas and public toilets etc. A downside of a Grind and Seal is ongoing maintenance as the coating will have to be reapplied over time with wear. Usually, a sealed floor can last anywhere from 4 – 12 years depending on type of sealer, traffic level and use.

Another downside to a Grind and Seal is the finish is prone to scratching, wear and possible peeling if left too long. We do not recommend a grind and seal to extreme high use areas, homes with pets or high-end domestic homes.
